Doi Inthanon National Park

Today was a hot, humid and sticky day in Chiang Mai so this morning I decided to head off to somewhere cooler and what better place than the highest mountain in Thailand.¬† At over 2500 Meters the air is always cool on Doi Inthanon, and today as I approached the¬†summit my fingers were numbing with the cold….nice!

Although it doest always happen, Tack and I try to have a break from work on the weekends and we like to get out somewhere with Pinky. This Saturday we spent the day up in Doi Inthanon. Doi Inthanon is the highest spot in Thailand at 2,565 meters above sea level and sits in Doi Inthanon National Park. Doi Inthanon itself is one of a very few high spots in Thailand to get ground frosts.

As we are in the middle of the wet season there was plenty of water feeding the waterfalls which were impressive however we did catch a rainy day and the cloud cover didnt allow for any good photo opportunities of the valley below. We wanted to take a walk out to some of the hill tribe villages in the park but with the wet day we had we were limited to a short walk on one of the nature trails. Anyway still a good day out with plenty of fresh cool air.
